After making the personal commitment to serve as an Officer in the United States military, my desire for service did not align with God’s ultimate plan. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a “dreamer”. The dreams and aspirations that I outlined for myself were literally about to crumble before my eyes. I suffered a devastating hip injury three months prior to my scheduled date to leave for training; I was left feeling dejected, disappointed, and uncomfortable with the person that I was becoming. Knowing that surgery was my only option to repair my labral tear, cam lesion, and FAI Impingement, I slowly began to settle into bad eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle. While being sidelined for 16-months I gained a total of 44 lbs. and lost a tremendous amount of self-confidence in the process.
My fitness journey has been anything but smooth sailing. I knew that I was ready for a change of pace but I wasn’t prepared for self-doubt that accompanied. After trying for a month or two on my own with no avail, I knew that a dose of tough love and accountability would get me back on track. I worked out at B.O.S.S. Fitness prior to my injury and was aware of the results that I could anticipate if I dedicated myself to the process. After receiving a not so gentle nudge from a co-worker, I finally placed the call to schedule my assessment with Taj. I struggled to complete the assessment and struggled during each session for months after (in my defense, the workouts are tough lol). I struggled to trust my body, while physically getting stronger, each ache and pain in my hip reminded me of the grueling 1 ½ year recovery process and a feeling that I hope to never endure again. Getting healthy and remaining healthy became my main objective centered around a lifestyle change. James and Taj are truly the definition of “Results Do Matter”, I can’t thank them enough for encouraging me along the way, holding me accountable for my actions and my attitude, and most importantly teaching me to trust my body and trust in myself again. So far, I’ve lost 27 lbs. and I’m looking forward to the remainder of the journey. Coming back to B.O.S.S. Fitness was easily the best investment that I could have made in myself. RESULTS DO MATTER!
